QUAMP2017 is an international four-day conference of Quantum, Atomic, Molecular and Plasma Physics from the 04-07 September 2017. It is organised in association with the Institute of Physics (IOP) by a joint committee from the Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde.
The meeting covers quantum information and technology, quantum optics, ultracold matter, the interaction of light with molecules and plasmas, while the format comprises plenary talks by invited speakers as well as some contributed talks and posters.
Hear Dr Graeme Malcolm OBE, CEO and Co-founder of M Squared talking during the conference at 4.20 pm on Monday 4 September.
His talk, "Laser Systems for Quantum Technologies and Novel Quantum Sensing Systems", will examine carefully tuned interactions between cold atoms and laser fields; central to emerging technologies such as quantum sensors, quantum computers and optical atomic clocks. Such devices, broadly classified as quantum technologies (QT), are expected to revolutionise many aspects of society in areas as diverse as navigation, underground detection, security, finance and healthcare. As these novel applications of QT advance towards technological maturity, the increasingly stringent demands of the required laser systems and associated ‘quantum hardware’ must be met in terms of performance, reliability and usability. Dr Graeme Malcolm will highlight how M Squared is achieving this goal.
You can also meet the M Squared team in the exhibition area from 5-6 September.
QuAMP, the UK’s foremost conference in the field of atomic and molecular physics, typically attracts up to 200 participants from the UK and international physics community.
